Immerse Yourself in Tibetan Culture

One of the greatest rewards of visiting Bylakuppe is experiencing its living culture.

Visitors can observe monks engaged in daily prayer ceremonies, admire traditional Tibetan architecture, and learn about Buddhist philosophy through respectful observation. During festival seasons, colorful masked dances, ceremonial music, and vibrant celebrations bring monasteries to life, offering rare glimpses into centuries-old traditions.

The warmth of local hospitality leaves a lasting impression. Conversations with residents, visits to family-run cafés, and simple moments spent watching everyday life reveal the resilience and generosity of the Tibetan community.

Bylakuppe invites visitors not only to see Tibetan culture but also to appreciate its values of compassion, mindfulness, and harmony.

The best time to visit Bylakuppe is during February and March, which is when the Tibetan New Year (Losar) occurs. Tibetans celebrate Losar for 15 days with dancing, singing, prayers in the monasteries, and many religious and cultural activities, ranging from fire pujas and butter sculpture displays to the Lama dance, yak dance, and traditional Tibetan dances.
